Undocumented MR Sysex Message Formats

There are a number of sysex commands and dumps that both the MR-Rack and ZR-76 use that are not documented in the MR sysex document. I've updated my MR Sysex Notes and will further revise the notes as I learn more.

MR-Rack Surgery was a success

I replaced the rotary encoders on the MR-Rack today. The whole procedure took about an hour. A solder pad for one of the leads lifted off the printed circuit board when I desoldered the old encoders, so when I installed the new encoders I used a patch wire to connect the affected lead to a nearby test point on the correct trace. Other than that there were no complications. After reassembly it passed the "smoke test"; both encoders and the MR-Rack seem to work fine.

More on rotary encoders

It was hard to find a distributor with stock on-hand. I had to order a quantity of the Bourns rotary encoders from Hammond Electronics, so I will have extras for sale if anyone else needs them.

MR-Rack Rotary Encoders

The Performance rotary encoder on my MR-Rack broke. I found an article that describes how to replace the ASR-X rotary encoders but the MR-Rack uses a different encoder than the ASR-X. The rotary encoders in the MR-Rack are Bourns part #ECW1D-C28-BC0024.
